How to create Amazon Virtual Product Bundles (2 to 5 ASINs, no tape)

A Virtual Product Bundle is Amazon's way of letting shoppers buy two to five of your complementary products from one detail page, while you keep shipping the same single units you already have in FBA or merchant fulfillment. No new carton. No inbound change. The shopper sees one listing. The warehouse picks the parts.

That matters more as Amazon tightens rules on physical multipacks and taped kits. Virtual Bundles are the Brand Registry tool you control. Virtual Multipacks, by contrast, are Amazon-created packs of the same ASIN in a limited pilot. Below are the eligibility checks, the clicks, the 1% discoverability rule and the reporting quirks so you do not chase sales that never land on the bundle ASIN.

Part 01

Step by step

9 steps, in the order Seller Central asks for them.

  1. 01Confirm Brand Representative or Authorized Reseller access

Virtual Product Bundles are limited to sellers with a Brand Representative or Authorized Reseller role on at least one Brand Registry brand. If the page is missing or shows Page Not Found, open Brand Benefit Eligibility to claim the role, or ask the primary account user to grant Product Bundles view and Edit permission to a secondary user.

  2. 02Line up two to five eligible ASINs

Every component must belong to a brand you own or resell in Brand Registry, have active New-condition inventory, and share the same fulfillment type across the whole bundle. You cannot mix FBA and Fulfilled by Merchant in one bundle. Gift cards, digital downloads, Renewed or used ASINs and Handmade products are out. Two unique ASINs work. Two units of one ASIN do not. That same-ASIN pack is a multipack, not a Virtual Bundle.

  3. 03Open the Virtual Product Bundles tool

In Seller Central, go to Brands and select Virtual Product Bundles, then start a New Virtual Bundle. Amazon says the tool works best in Firefox or Chrome. Fill every field, including all five bullet points, and use a SKU you are not already using on any offer in any marketplace.

  4. 04Add components and set quantities

Select two to five buyable ASINs. To ship more than one unit of a component, add the ASIN once, then click the number next to Quantity in bundle and raise it from available stock. Multipacks and multi-box items that ship as one ASIN in several boxes cannot be created with this tool.

  5. 05Pick the main component carefully

Any ASIN in the bundle can be the main component. That choice sets search and browse categorization, and the bundle inherits search keywords from it. After you save, the main component cannot change. If you picked wrong, delete the bundle, wait 24 hours, then recreate it with a different SKU or the same SKU after that wait.

  6. 06Set a discount that clears the 1% widget bar

Bundle price starts as the sum of the component prices shown in the tool, then applies your discount percentage across them. Component coupons and deals are not baked into that calculation. For the Bundles with this item widget on the main component page, the bundle must cost at least 1% less than buying the parts separately, be buyable on its own page and hold the winning offer. New bundles can take up to 4 hours to appear there.

  7. 07Write a short title, bullets and images

Keep the title under 65 characters so it is not truncated in the Bundles with this item widget. Fill all five bullet points. Upload images that follow Amazon's product image rules and show the products together. Bundle ASINs carry their own reviews and ratings, separate from the components.

  8. 08Publish, then edit only inside the bundles tool

Save and publish from the bundles tool. After save you can still edit title, description, bullets, item highlights, discount percentage and images. You cannot change the component list, main component, fulfillment type or SKU. Never edit the bundle through feeds, APIs or most third-party tools. Amazon says that will stop the bundle from being buyable until you remove it from those tools and re-submit inside Seller Central.

  9. 09Track sales in the weekly email, not the usual reports

Most Seller Central reports pass virtual bundle sales through to the component ASINs, so the bundle ASIN itself often shows no sale. If you have had at least one virtual bundle or virtual multipack sale in the past 90 days, the merchant default contact gets a weekly Product Bundle Sales Report email from do-not-reply@amazon.com with a CSV link that covers the past 90 days and expires about six days after it is sent. Orders still appear in Manage Orders.

Part 02 Calculator

Try the numbers: Virtual Bundle price and 1% widget check

Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you type leaves this page. The 1% bar is Amazon's published rule. Component coupons are not included here, just as Amazon excludes them from the tool's starting sum.

No. 1 Virtual Bundle price and 1% widget check

How to use it. Enter the current prices of up to five components and the discount percentage you plan to set. We add the parts, apply your discount, and show whether the result is at least 1% under the sum, which Amazon requires for the Bundles with this item widget.

The math, and where it comes from
  • Amazon prices a Virtual Product Bundle from the sum of the component prices shown in the creation tool, then applies your seller-determined discount percentage proportionally.
  • For the Bundles with this item widget, Amazon requires the bundle to cost at least 1% less than buying the components separately, be buyable on its own detail page and hold the winning offer.
  • Our arithmetic: sum = p1+p2+p3+p4+p5. Bundle price = sum x (1 - disc/100). The 1% floor is sum x 0.99.

Part 04

Tricks the help page buries

The lines in Amazon's own documentation that most sellers scroll past.

  1. 1Do not confuse this with Virtual Multipacks

Virtual Multipacks are Amazon-created listings that pack multiple units of the same FBA single-pack ASIN under a VMP_ SKU. You cannot join that pilot by hand. Virtual Bundles are the tool you open under Brands to combine different ASINs.

Sources: Seller Central Help, Virtual multipacks, Seller Central Help, Virtual product bundles

  2. 2Watch component promotions after you publish

When a component goes on deal, Amazon does not auto-raise your bundle discount. If the live parts become cheaper than the bundle, you can lose Featured Offer eligibility. Re-check the discount when a coupon starts or ends.

Source: Seller Central Help, Virtual product bundles

  3. 3Keep titles under 65 characters

Amazon's troubleshooting FAQ says titles longer than 65 characters get truncated in the Bundles with this item widget. Write the short version first, then pad the detail page description.

Source: Seller Central Help, Troubleshooting FAQ for virtual product bundles

  4. 4Status filter can hide your bundle

On Manage Inventory, set Status and Fulfilled by to All. Virtual bundles show the word Bundle in the Status column, and the page intentionally shows limited fields so you edit only through the bundles tool.

Sources: Seller Central Help, Troubleshooting FAQ for virtual product bundles, Seller Central Help, Virtual product bundles

  5. 5Coupons and ads still work on the bundle ASIN

Amazon says virtual bundles are compatible with coupons, A+ Content, Sponsored Brands and Sponsored Products. A bundle discount does not change the price history of the component ASINs for Deals eligibility.

Source: Seller Central Help, Virtual product bundles

  6. 6Traffic lives on the child-item report

For page views, open Business Reports and the Detail Page Sales and Traffic by Child Item report. It shows traffic for the bundle ASIN but not sales or units. Pair it with the weekly Product Bundle Sales Report email for units and revenue.

Questions sellers ask

Tap a question to open it.

How many ASINs can I put in an Amazon Virtual Product Bundle?

Amazon requires two to five ASINs, and each one must be buyable on its own. Two units of the same ASIN do not count as a Virtual Bundle. Raise Quantity in bundle if you need more than one unit of a component from stock.

Source: Seller Central Help, Virtual product bundles

Who can create Virtual Product Bundles?

Sellers with a Brand Representative or Authorized Reseller role on a Brand Registry brand. Secondary users also need Product Bundles view and Edit permission from the primary account user.

Sources: Seller Central Help, Virtual product bundles, Seller Central Help, Troubleshooting FAQ for virtual product bundles

Is there an extra fee for Virtual Product Bundles?

No. Amazon charges the same seller fees as if the components were bought one by one, and says there is no additional fee for creating or selling a virtual bundle.

Source: Seller Central Help, Virtual product bundles

Why is my bundle missing from the Bundles with this item widget?

Amazon shows that widget when the bundle costs at least 1% less than buying the components separately, is buyable on its own detail page and holds the winning offer. New bundles may take up to 4 hours to appear, and the widget is not guaranteed on every ASIN.

Sources: Seller Central Help, Virtual product bundles, Seller Central Help, Troubleshooting FAQ for virtual product bundles

Can I change the products in a Virtual Bundle after I save it?

No. After save you can edit title, description, bullets, item highlights, discount percentage and images. To change components, the main component, fulfillment type or SKU, delete the bundle, wait 24 hours, then recreate it.

Source: Seller Central Help, Virtual product bundles

Where do Virtual Bundle sales show up?

Most Seller Central reports attribute sales to the component ASINs, not the bundle ASIN. Use the weekly Product Bundle Sales Report email (past 90 days of data, download link lasts about six days) and Manage Orders for the order IDs.
