How to get more Amazon reviews the allowed way: Request a Review, Vine and Review Requests

A product with zero reviews is a store with the lights off. Shoppers walk past, and not because the product is bad. Nobody has vouched for it yet. The temptation is to fix that fast, with a coupon for a five-star review or a polite note to only the customers who seemed thrilled. Amazon treats both as breaking its rules, and it does remove reviews that violate its policies.

The good news is that Amazon now hands you more legitimate ways to get reviews than ever, and most cost little or nothing. Below is the order we'd use them in, the exact clicks, what Vine really costs, and how to turn a two-star review into a customer who comes back.

Part 01

Step by step

8 steps, in the order Seller Central asks for them.

  1. 01Fix what earns reviews in the first place

Amazon's own first answer to getting reviews is excellent customer service and keeping your product and delivery promises. Check your listing for anything that sets the wrong expectation before you ask anyone to rate it.

  2. 02Click Request a Review on each eligible order

Open the order in Seller Central and click Request a Review on the Order details page. Amazon sends one standardized email that asks for both a product review and seller feedback, translated into the customer's preferred language.

  3. 03Time it between day 5 and day 30

The button works once per order, between 5 and 30 days after the delivery date. Before day 5 or after day 30 the order isn't eligible. Build a weekly habit of clearing the orders that just entered the window.

  4. 04Check that the product qualifies for Vine

You need a Professional selling account, a Brand Representative or Reseller role for a brand enrolled in Brand Registry (or generic products), and an FBA listing with an image and a description. Existing products must have fewer than 30 reviews. Adult, digital and bundled products aren't eligible.

  5. 05Enroll the product in Vine

In Seller Central, hover over Advertising and select Vine. Pick a recommended product or search for an eligible FBA ASIN, enter how many units to offer, up to 30, and select Enroll.

  6. 06Get inventory in early for a launch

You can enroll as soon as the FBA listing exists, even before it goes live. Amazon recommends enrolling and having inventory in its fulfillment network at least three weeks before launch, so Vine Voices have time to receive, try and review the product.

  7. 07Add Review Requests ads if you qualify

Review Requests is an Amazon Ads format that invites recent buyers to rate your product while they shop. It opened in US open beta in late October 2026 for products with fewer than 1,000 ratings and reviews, and you run it in Amazon Ads Agent with your usual bids and budgets.

  8. 08Answer critical reviews every month

Hover over Brands and click Customer Reviews. For a rating under three stars, click Contact Customer to offer a full courtesy refund or support. Amazon suggests resolving critical reviews at least every 30 days. Replies arrive in your Messages inbox.

How to use it. Type how many units you plan to offer for one parent product and how many reviews you hope to get back. We apply Amazon's US Vine enrollment tiers. The review count is your guess, not Amazon's.

Vine allows up to 30.

New sellers who enroll a brand in Brand Registry get $200.

The math, and where it comes from
  • Enrollment cost per parent product: $0 for up to 2 units, $75 for 3 to 10, $200 for 11 to 30. Child products add nothing. Amazon's US prices.
  • Amazon bills 30 days after enrollment and only once your first review is published. No review in 90 days means no charge.
  • Cost per review is our arithmetic: cost after credit divided by the reviews you expect. It leaves out the cost of the free units.

Tricks the help page buries

The lines in Amazon's own documentation that most sellers scroll past.

  1. 1Make the button a weekly chore

Request a Review works once per order and only from day 5 to day 30 after delivery. Pick one day a week and clear every order that entered the window. Miss day 30 and that order is gone for good.

Source: Amazon Seller Forums, Amazon reply on the Request a Review button

  2. 2Two units can be free

Vine charges nothing for up to 2 units per parent product. For a niche product where two thoughtful reviews beat none, that's the cheapest social proof Amazon sells.

  3. 3Variations ride along

Vine's enrollment cost is per parent product, and child products add nothing. Enroll at the parent level so every size and color shares the reviews.

Source: Sell on Amazon, Get customer reviews with Amazon Vine

  4. 4Cancel before anyone claims

You can cancel a Vine enrollment while no reviewer has claimed a unit, and re-enroll later. Once units are claimed you can only stop it, and a stopped product can't be re-enrolled. Check the unit count twice.

  5. 5Watch the 1,000 line

Review Requests ads pause automatically once a product reaches 1,000 ratings and reviews. Point the budget at your newer ASINs, where Amazon's early test saw three times as many ratings and reviews per week.
